a recreation of the artist's childhood in Appalachia, this series focuses on detail within simplicity, the creativity that sprouts within a young mind, and an appreciation for nature. This work was inspired by the photographs of Sally Mann.

Tuesday. Thursday.
2016
This project is a culmination of woodworking sculpture and found objects. Together, they create a set of heads, metaphorical and literal cabinets, each representing opposite ends of the daily spectrum of emotion in regards to depression. "Thursday" is composed of disheveled shelves barely containing broken and rusty things that once held practical use. "Tuesday" is the same mind, yet in a much different mental place- orderly, more refined, lovely. The differences between these mental places are meant to showcase the desperation experienced by those with depression and the hope and healing that is possible for us as well.
