Twelve + One
sago mine 10 year anniversary installation
hand-shredded Photographs and artifacts gathered at the Sago mine by the artist. this installation was created in remembrance of the Sago Mine Disaster of January, 2006 in Sago, West virginia.  After an explosion, miners were trapped two miles underground without properly working breathing equipment. Twelve miners were killed, one miraculously survived.  this disaster was a formative memory for LML as a child, and forever bonded her to the blue collar workers of west virginia.
