ABOUT THE ARTIST
Lydia Möller is an artist, collector, curator, and visual anthropologist from the great state of West Virginia. After a six year stint in the PNW, she is pleased to return to Appalachia and proud to call Asheville, N.C. home. Trained in Fine Art Photography at Marshall University, she carries deep connections to humanity, story, and place that heavily influence her work. She considers her life’s work to be telling the stories of what remains in Appalachia. Her more recent output employs her traditional training in photography as a starting point to break away from the flat white wall and enrich the story told by incorporating found objects, artifacts, sculpture, and fibers. Lydia is currently inspired by the concept of terroir and the work of Kentucky-based artist Michael Mapes. She is perpetually inspired by the typologies of Hilla & Bernd Becher, and the activism of Vik Muniz. --- Any object can become an artifact, if you care enough about the culture it is attributed to. --- If you have questions, comments, or would like to purchase prints of photographs or custom work, please fill out the blanks below.
